GENERAL OVERVIEW
In August of 2009, St. Joseph School opened its doors to over 300 students, commencing its forty-sixth year as a Catholic school in the Diocese of Oakland.  While the facilities and staff have changed over the years, the commitment to providing a faith-filled education to the children of our parish and our surrounding area has never wavered.  With Christ as our teacher and leader, we have continued to practice and teach our Catholic history and traditions through our foundation in religion, while addressing the general curriculum necessary to produce students who are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century. St. Joseph is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Educational Association.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Parents, as the primary educators of their children, are invited and encouraged to participate in the activities of the school community. St. Joseph School is blessed with dedicated and committed families who give generously of their time, talent, and treasures to enrich the lives of their students and each other.  Every family is required to volunteer thirty-five hours of service each year, twenty general hours and fifteen fundraising hours.

STAFF
The St. Joseph School community is blessed with exceptional school administration, faculty, and staff members.  Each is dedicated to the religious, emotional, social, physical, and academic growth of the students. Kindergarten and First Grade have full-time assistants.  Second and Third Grade have part-time assistants.  Fourth, Fifth, and Middle School Grades share full-time assistants.  A full-time Reading Assistant works with Kindergarten through Third Grade.  Specialists in Art, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish are provided for the student body.  Resource Programs in Language Arts and in Math are available for identified, challenged students. Two part-time Technology Coordinators, and a part-time Librarian complete our staff.

CLASS SIZE
Our current class size ranges from thirty-two to thirty-six students. There is an Instructional Assistant in each of the Kindergarten through Third Grade classrooms, and shared assistants for Grades Four, Five, and Middle School students. The Reading Assistant for Grades Kindergarten through Grade Three allows for daily small group activities for twelve students for forty-five minutes. Our full-time Resource Teacher assists students with special needs for small group work on a daily basis. These groups focus on phonemic awareness, reading, writing, and math.
