Catholic Schools: Celebrate Service
December 15, 2008
Santa's Christmas Prayer
By Warren D. Jennings
The sleigh was packed,
the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt
by the side of the bed.
"Dear Father," he prayed
"Be with me tonight.
There's much work to do
and my schedule is tight.
I must jump in my sleigh
and streak through the sky,
Knowing full well
that a reindeer can't fly.
I will visit each household
before the first light,
I'll cover the world
and all in one night.
With sleighbells a-ringing,
I'll land on each roof,
Amid the soft clatter
of each little hoof.
To get in the house
is the difficult part,
So I'll slide down the chimney
of each little heart.
My sack will hold toys
to grant all their wishes.
The supply will be endless
like the loaves and the fishes.
I will fill all the stockings
and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie
that's left for my snack.
I can do all these things Lord,
only through You,
I just need your blessing,
then it's easy to do.
All this is to honor
the birth of the One,
That was sent to redeem us,
Your most Holy Son.
So to all of my friends,
lest Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them,
who gave me this job."
* NO ENVELOPE ON MONDAY, JANUARY 5 * EXPECT IT TO COME HOME ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 *
THANK YOU
To the faculty, staff and students who worked so very hard preparing for our Christmas gift to you. We hope you enjoyed a little time away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and remembered back to when you were a child. Things seemed less commercial and focused more on the real reason we celebrate this blessed time of the year.
To the Knights of Columbus, all the folks who worked magic with their cooking skills, set-up the festive ambience and cleaned up after all of us went home. We thank our Girl Scout and Boy Scout representatives for joining us and adding to this special event. Holiday spirit and merriment could be felt around the gym!

PLEASE REMEMBER THOSE WHO NEED HELP * WE ONLY HAVE THREE DAYS LEFT TO COLLECT
One of the traditions of the holiday season is to bring gifts to those in need, just as the Magi brought gifts to the Baby Jesus, and this year is no exception. Once again, as a school community, we will be keeping this tradition as part of our Service Learning opportunities for the faculty, staff, and students.
* Socks will be collected for either a local convalescent hospital or homeless shelter. The weather is getting colder and keeping your feet warm and dry helps the overall body temperature to remain a little more comfortable, whether youre young, old or in between. We hope this is a relatively inexpensive and easy request to fill. J
* Our other opportunity to make for a brighter holiday season is by adopting one of our local Catholic schools and providing them with new books for their library. This school is a small, economically challenged school that is struggling to offer their students the best possible education on a shoestring budget. All the frills have been cut and their wants and needs are many. If each of our children could bring in one brand new book to help stock their library, their faculty, staff, parents and students would truly appreciate it.
In lieu of exchanging gifts with each other, our faculty and staff will be pooling donations to assist in purchasing some other items on their dream list, such as new thesauri for Middle School students, multi-copies of leveled, paperback reading books, games and activities for rainy days, and more . . .
Please help in anyway you can. Target date for the end of collecting socks and books is: Wednesday, December 17th.
SOME REMINDERS AND REQUESTS
* If you received a reminder note about your TB/PPD or X-ray, please return that information to the office as soon as you can *
* Lunch helpers are needed on Wednesdays. Please call the office if you can lend a hand for about an hour, from 11:40 to 12:30 PM. It would be greatly appreciated.
Just a gentle reminder that we have people double-parking in the city lot, again, and in the Post Office parking lot. The rules are for everyone, whether you get here early or are picking up your student on the fly. The children know the guidelines, and parents are not setting a good example by ignoring the many requests that have come from the office and the police department. Lets start 2009, on a good note!
