Ms. Fumiko Leamy

Hello, and welcome to the Second Grade page!  My name is Mrs. Leamy, and I am delighted to be back at St. Joseph School!

I have a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and California Multiple Subjects Credential from California State University, East Bay.  I have a clear credential and an English Learner Authorization. I also have an associate degree in fashion design from FIDM, and teaching is my second career.

This year will be my sixth year of teaching, and although it isn’t very long, I bring with me a wealth of knowledge and skills that I have acquired through collaborating with wonderful administrators and educators, especially those in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. Prior to this school year, I taught first grade for four years at Cordelia Hills Elementary School.

This year will, indeed, bring new challenges and experiences, but I am very much looking forward to learning and growing together with my students. Through close communication with families and reciprocal support throughout the year, we will partake in educating your child as "partners in mission."

I truly believe in the Catholic tradition of educating the whole child.  I also believe in setting high expectations for students while providing them with effective tools and strategies to experience success in a 21st century classroom. Importantly, a classroom should be a safe, nurturing environment to foster enduring positive attitudes about learning.

On a personal note, I have been married for 38 years to my high school sweetheart, and I have a daughter in college. She graduated from St. Joseph School and Salesian High School. My old chocolate labrador retriever is another member of our family.  I don’t have many outside interests because teaching takes up a lot of my time, but when I can, I like being entertained. I like binge watching, going to the movies, and LOVE going to the Happiest Place on Earth every year! I’m a big kid at heart, and this is one of the reasons why I enjoy teaching young children.

God bless,

Mrs. Leamy
